Daryaft is an Urdu research and critical inquiry journal, published by the Department of Urdu, National University of Modern Languages. The first issue was published in January 2002 and so far (June 2019) Twenty one issues have been printed. It was published annually in January and from June 2016 it has been printing bi-annually in January and June. The unpublished research based articles in the context of Urdu language and literature are included in Daryaft. Articles are sent to the experts for judgment and opinion before publication. In 2005 journal was selected in the approved list of HEC journals.

Aims & Scope
Daryaft considers all manuscripts, book reviews, review articles and commentaries related to any aspect of Urdu language and literature as well as other local languages in the region. Research and critical works from Language, Linguistics and Literature perspectives are welcomed for submission, however, all submissions must be written in Urdu only. The journal does not entertain any kind of submissions in any languages other than Urdu.
